28th July 2025 a milestone moment as it's my first day as a Mission & Outreach Worker. Lots of thoughts, ideas, conversations, works that have already begun are swirling in my mind. It's 06:30am my usual waking time and time to get ready, but wait! I'm not going to Paisley for 8am I'm going down to the church for 9am which is only a 10 mind walk away (change number 1!)
Now I'm awake what do I do go back to bed for a bit longer... Not a chance! I need to clear this head of mine and a morning run (which I don't get the chance often to do) is what I do.
An amazing feeling of freedom and life explodes in me as I set off. I'm buzzing with energy as my pace increases and I head off along the cycle path. I meet a cyclist as we exchanges places a couple of times along the route, I see a fox, listen to the morning bird songs and on the return I see one of my favourite animals a red row deer. The deer stares at me for a moment, pondering at this odd looking human with a wide grin on it's face running up hill towards it. Before it effortlessly leaps onto the hillside and disappears. What an amazing start to the day! (change number 2)
Once home and showered I get changed and grab my bag and set off for the church. Still feeling the effects of the run I walk down the road to the church full of praise and thankfulness for my days start and the intrigue of what's ahead.
Once through the door I wandered through into the sanctuary of the church. I was only here yesterday (Sunday) but it feels different today, not because I'm the only one here but because...
Back into the office and time to setup my desk with the laptop and screen. Wrote down a few jobs to get me started and spent my first hour sorting things out.
